This is not real localhost to localhost.
VMware guest is a special environment.

Test without vmware. Some users reported issues with vmware, solved
without vmware.

The problem is memory and I've seen strange things,
have a try.

Later or first.
You can run several slow imapsync in parallel.
You can prepare the final switch with previous --delete2 calls.
