=BFWhy am I interested in it?
Google has a lot of services, each one easy to use and useful.
It is so friendly that people unnoticeably gravitate to google services more
and more.
Because of that google has increasing amount of private information (I do
not like this).
It is one way direction: sometimes it is difficult to stop using it without
loosing something (functionality...)
Lately I have sorted a lot of personal mail with gmail labels.
I would like to be able to get this in other place (mi home computer?) when
I feel like.
If I do it now I would loose a lot of label valuable information.
This is why I am looking for some way to get out my mail from there.
Even if I manage to do this, I am not sure there are email clients able to
manage arbitrary number of labels to use this. I read that clients like
thunderbird has very poor suppor for it and stores label information
locally. But I am not thinking about that now, just getting label
information out of there.

aha, thx.<br><br>I was considering making the dirty patch I told you to syn=
c gmail labels to standard imap server (so as to make a complete backup of =
"All Mail" folder in gmail.)<br><br>From all imap sync apps I was=
searching one that could make it or would be the easiest to implement. I l=
ike imapsync because:<br>
- It is easy to use: just one command line, no config files at all.<br>- Is=
imap to imap solution. Does not depends on mboxes or maildirs. It seems (I=
could be wrong) that imap could be the best way to retain "gmail labe=
l information" by converting it to imap labels.<br>
- It works with gmail and other imap servers I tested.<br>- It can sync one=
single folder ("All Mail" in gmail). I do not want to sync other=
folthers as they ar labels with dup messages.<br>- I think (I could be wro=
ng) it is possible to modify the code of imapsync to include the option.<br>
